Katapult Akademiet presents the development project HERE IN THE DARK – a sketch performance by playwright Johanne Petrine Reynberg. In just 10 days, the sketch performance must be created in collaboration with the director, dramaturg and players.

HERE IN THE DARK is a performance about a couple who lose a child and the struggle to continue life together, in grief.

Johanne is inspired by the British playwright Stephen Jeffreys and his idea that there are 9 basic narratives.

Johanne selects 3 basic stories to work with in 3 scenes about the traumatized couple, within the framework of the tragic love story as in Romeo and Juliet: The hunt for the lost gift as in the myth of Orpheus and Eurydice, the rival siblings as in the tale of Cain and Abel, and the deal with the Devil from the myth of Faust.

The performance asks the question:
How does history change when the basic narratives change?
