THE ISLAND OF MOREL – Free show
30. May @ 19:00 – 20:00
Theatre performance of the students from Colegio Hacienda Los Alcaparros (Bogota-Colombia)
The Island of Morel is a theatrical adaptation of the novel “The Invention of Morel” by Argentinian writer Adolfo Bioy Casares. It follows an anonymous narrator on a mysterious island inhabited by holographic reproductions of people, challenging his ability to discern between the real and the illusory.
As the mysteries of existence unravel in this captivating labyrinth of perceptions, deep themes such as true love and the unpredictable consequences of our actions are explored. What defines our humanity in a world increasingly dominated by technology?
This stage adaptation of Bioy Casares’ novel is directed by Carlos Carvajal and performed by a young group of actors from Colombia.
The theatre group from Colegio Hacienda Los Alcaparros, composed by young people from 13 to 17 years old, is a Colombian group that combines theatre education and creativity.
It has participated and been acclaimed in festivals around the world, such as in France, Czech Republic, Russia and Chile. It seeks to shape well-rounded individuals who can communicate and grow through theatre.
The group is in residence at Nordisk Teaterlaboratorium from the 24th to 31st May 2023.
The residence is led and organized by Valerio Peroni & Alice Occhiali, actors and pedagogues of NTL.
